Winter is upon us

At least it is in the Mid-West, USA! Here in Iowa we got our first significant snow fall overnight last night. It wasn't much, probably close to three inches. But, it was enough to get me to thinking what would happen if we had to "bug out" in the winter. For me and my family, bugging out would mean going to a location similar to one in the picture above and setting up some kind of camp. We don't have a cabin or homestead we could go to if SHTF (Stuff Hits The Fan) and we had to leave our home. That's a door that I'm praying God will open for us. A place to go if we had to; no matter what the weather. We are prepared for any normal winter emergency in our area; such as a power outage for any

My love of bushcraft

And how it came to be When I was a little girl I used to sit and watch western movies and television shows with my dad. I loved a good western! Today, I'm so thankful for the influence and the memories of those old wild west shows. It gave me such an appreciation and love of the outdoors! Which is really kind of weird when you consider I grew up in Southern California in the 60s. However, when you combine my love for westerns and my desire to be a hippy, you have the me of today which really isn't so weird. Not me, the idea. I'm still weird, lol. The song begins with the lyrics, "I beg your pardon I never promised you a rose garden. Along with the sunshine. There's gotta be a little rain some time ". I think the writer of this song, Joe South, had a little insight as to what life is all about. We were never promised our lives would be like a rose garden. When the blossoms are all abloom a rose garden permeates beauty an

Why should Christians vote?

If we put our trust in God why do we need to vote? As of the time of this writing, the 2018 mid-term elections are only two days away. Have you decided who you are voting for? Or, have you decided to remain silent and not vote? Why is voting so important, anyway? Can't we just pray and leave it up to God? Those are some of the questions that I hope to help you find answers to. The intent of this blog article is not to influence you whom or what party to vote for, but rather to encourage you to get out and vote. If we remain silent and don't vote then we are handing our future over to others to choose how we should live our lives. Isn't that a personal choice? Don't you want to live your lif
