Priorities: Keeping the faith

These are some of the things The Lord has been impressing upon my mind lately. And, I felt the need to share them with you. I am not perfect, far from it; and I don't now everything there is to know. But, I do know that we help one another by sharing our thoughts, ideas, and goals. So, here are some of mine... Electronic or hard copy Bible? One way the Holy Spirit speaks to us is through His Word, The Bible. How can He lead us with an electronic Bible? With paper we can scan through the pages and stop where He leads us to. Can we do that with the electronic Bible? Perhaps, but not nearly as easily as we can with the printed Bible, that's for sure! Something to think about. In fact, I have be

Using freeze dried foods for everyday meals? Why not?

I couldn't decide what to make for supper tonight. I really wanted a lettuce salad with chicken breast. The only problem with that was that I didn't have any chicken breast thawed. I had some in the freezer, but that wasn't going to help me for tonight's supper. I thought of other things I could make, but that salad just kept coming back into my thoughts and whetting my appetite. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted it! Isn't that how it seems to go? We always want something that we don't have or that isn't available? Well, I kept searching for ideas of what I could make. I was even looking through my Pinterest boards for ideas and nothing looked or sounded good. Then, it dawned on

I am D.O.N.E. - as in finished!

Spoiler alert: this is not what I normally write about! I am done! I am soooo done! Enough! I've had enough!! I'm throwing in the towel. As in D.O.N.E. I have been struggling with what to do ever since I came back from my visit with my son. I just can't do it anymore. Yes, I'm talking about this blog site. Not in the way you may be thinking though. I have pushed and pushed and constantly strive to get the word out about my blog articles and trying to get people to read them. Yes, Christian Prepper Gal's social media presence is growing as a result, but I feel like it is all in vain. As of this writing I am just shy of 600 followers on social media and this website. That's not bad for a woman

BOB, INCH bag, GHB, EDC, Go Bag, IFAK, 72 hour emergency kit...

Do we really need all of those bags? Just a couple of years ago I was only aware of preppers needing one bag: a BOB (Bug Out Bag). Something you could grab and go if you needed to quickly evacuate your home. Lately though, it seems every few months a new bag is being added to the list that preppers should have! I suppose that's because someone had the wisdom to break down the different needs for different scenarios and organize them into more specific-type bags. But, it's enough to make a person go insane just thinking about all of them! Do we really need that many bags? And, if so, why?? Below is a list of "prepper bags" that I'm currently aware of (I'm sure there are even more that I'm mis

Is a 72 hour emergency kit going to be enough?

Let me help you decide When God first led me to prepping I had never even heard of a 72 hour emergency kit. In fact, on my first trip to the store to stock up on food my daughter and I picked up close to a month's worth of food. God had given me (and my daughter) a "knowing" that something was coming and I would need LOTS of food in storage! It was only after I started prepping that I heard of a 72 hour emergency kit. Don't get me wrong...72 hour emergency kits do have their purpose! For starters, they are excellent to have on hand in the case of a short term emergency such as: flooding, fire, tornado, hurricane, earthquake, or any other short term emergency. In fact, I think everyone should

Are you prepared to protect yourself and your family?

I was sitting in my bed reading a book on my Kindle. The window was open and there was a nice breeze flowing in from it. Suddenly, a gun shot rang out! I froze in place. I closed my Kindle so the light wouldn't give me away. It was 11:15 p.m. There was no good reason for anyone to be shooting a gun at that hour. My entire being was focused on listening for any more shots. I tried to determine how close the sound was. It was hard to tell because in the mountains sound travels and can even bounce back and forth among the hilltops. I was still frozen as I sat there in the dark listening for any more gunshots trying to decide if I should wake my son or not. He was at the other end of the RV camp

The importance of having basic survival skills: even if you don't plan on bugging out!

And, an important announcement! It seems that since being a prepper has become a little more socially acceptable and more popular, a lot of new preppers tend to primarily focus on putting together a 72 hour emergency kit. And, that's a great place to start! But should we stop there? Is there more we should be doing to be prepared for a disaster/emergency, SHTF (Sh*t Hits The Fan) or TEOTWAWKI (The End Of The World As We Know It) situation? Some people (like myself) strive to be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. We know that there could very well be situations that could happen that would cause us to be without power/electricity for very long periods of time. Such as a nuclear EMP

Lessons I learned while visiting the Ozarks

The truth sometimes bites! I have been trying for days to decide where to start in writing about my adventures in the Ozark Mountains that I experienced this past month. There are so many things to talk about and share. One of the biggest things that spoke to me was that us city folk are in no way fully prepared for survival if S* Hits The Fan. I'm not talking about being prepared for a 72 hour emergency. I'm talking about if, for whatever reason, the power grid goes down for an extended period of time. Or any other long term event that would cause us to be without power or that would drastically change our every day normal activities. But, I've already discussed the "what ifs" that could ha
