Out of focus

Are you being distracted? I have a confession to make. I have been focusing way too much on prepping lately. Oh, not so much on doing it, but researching, watching YouTube videos, and reading about prepping and what others are telling me that they think I need to do. But, today, I realized that if I need to focus more on God and seek what He would have me do. I need to seek His wisdom and He will show me what I need to be doing. Oh, I've known that all along. But, the enemy will use distractions to get us off track and to focus on things that are not important for us in our daily walk with God. And, the distraction the enemy has been using on me lately has been prepper research. You know, it

Meal-in-a-bag: Chicken Noodle Soup

A hearty, healthy meal for your emergency food storage! It has been a busy week for me! It all started last weekend when I finally had all the ingredients I wanted to use for a new meal-in-a-bag recipe. I dehydrated some frozen mixed vegetables. Then, the next day I cooked some egg noodles, rinsed and drained them, and then dehydrated those as well. All the while I was dehydrating the ingredients I needed, I was figuring up how much of each ingredient I would use in the recipe. Before I go any further, let me address the reason I cooked the noodles and then dehydrated them. The main reason is to cut down on time and save on the amount of water needed to cook them. Noodles (or any pasta) that

To everything, there is a season

A change is about to happen! This morning, I awoke to this scripture on my mind: Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and

What would you do if this happened to you?

Something I've never really thought about before, have you? I've considered that there may come a time in my life when I might need to know how to trap wild animals for food. In fact, I was reading an article today that was about just that. But, what I hadn't thought of before is that others most likely are also trapping wild animals. Maybe even near the area that I may be. I'm not talking about this happening in the world as we now know it, but in the aftermath of a SHTF event. Even if I'm in a secluded are of the woods and there have been no signs of anyone else around, there could be other people who wander into the same area as me to hunt their food. Using steel traps like the one in the

When the lights go out...

Would you survive a grid down? This past June (2019) I spent a month with my son who is building a homestead on 10 acres of land he owns in the Ozark Mountains. While I was there, I learned some valuable lessons about what life might be like in the aftermath of a SHTF/apocalyptic event. Well, as far as living off grid, without the convenience of electricity and running water, that is. Some of those lessons I have mentioned in my blog article, Lessons I learned while visiting the Ozarks. But today, I want to talk about some things that were not covered in that article. Not all preppers prep the same or for the same reasons. Some prepare for a 72 hour emergency, some prepare for a week, some
