In case you were wondering...I'm still here!

I've been busy acclimating to my new surroundings!

I know, I know. It's been a while since I said I'm coming out of retirement. I understand your frustration in not hearing from me in so long. So, I thought I'd pop in for a moment and let you know what's been happening!

It has taken me longer than I anticipated it would. Just over four months. There have been ups and there have been downs. But, I think I'm finally to a point where I can take some time to write, share, and make videos once again. I am estimating that I am at about 80% acclimated to my new surroundings. There may be some truth to the old saying, "You can't teach old dogs new tricks". Oh wait, that has nothing to do to getting used to new surroundings and new routines, does it? LOL.

Going from being a retired single person living alone 85 percent of the time to being part of a household with 8 children and two other adults has been quite the change!! Not all children are living at home full time currently, as two of them are away at schools. So, it's only six children on a day to day basis. Still, it has been quite a drastic change for this old grandma! I am so loving it here, though!

This year's garden

As I mentioned in my previous blog post, I am now living with my son, his fairly new wife of two years, and her 8 children on their homestead. We have a few horses (see picture above), as well as a few cows, goats, chickens, turkeys, and guineas. Oh, and I can't forget to give mention to the four dogs and three cats! I've not been helping with any of the outside homesteading chores YET, but I have been getting used to my new daily inside chores and getting some seeds ready for the new garden that will be going in soon.

Tomato and Pepper seeds started for our 2022 garden.

This year it will be something entirely new for me as we will be using raised garden beds. So, I'm sure I'll be sharing a lot of garden mishaps and successes with you!

We will have mostly a vegetable garden, but I will also be growing 11 herbs and several medicinal flowers, along with other flowers, and starting some everbearing strawberries. Even though I am highly allergic to bees I do understand the need for bees in the ecosystem. Thus the flowers. In fact, I'm thinking if there is enough time left for it in this world we live in that I might convince my son and his wife to let me have a bee hive or two next year 🙂. I would love to have our own supply of honey! Strange how I'm allergic to a bee's sting, but not to the honey they produce. Hmmm...I may have to do a little research on that!

Still working on that recipe

For those of you who may be wondering, I'm still working on that new meal in a bag recipe. You know, the one I've been working on for months now. But trust me, that Spicy Black Bean & Chicken & Rice Meal in a Bag recipe will definitely be worth it's wait!!

In the meantime, if you haven't already, go check out my YouTube channel and see the recipes I've already put together there.

On to more serious matters

I would love to keep things a bit more humorous and good newsy, but something has been heavy on my heart and mind lately. And, that is that another wave of empty grocery shelves may be heading our way (here in the U.S.). God has been impressing upon me to do a quick build up of the main prepper staples, including flour, yeast, lard/shortening/oil, sugars, salt, noodles/pastas, and things of that nature. I know most of you may already have those items on hand and in your long term storage. However, when I moved down here I left the majority of my preps there with a family member. So, even though we have some here, I've been receiving a warning in my spirit that we don't have enough. So, I've been stocking up on those things. I wanted to purchase some of the Augason Farms products that I love so much also, but they've been hard to find without paying an arm and a leg for them.

It's not that I'm thinking we are going to have a shortage on flour and baking items per say. At least not right away. But, I see a shortage of some foods that will make it to where we may have to rely on our baking skills in order to provide the proper amount of food for our family. I'm really thinking that I need to get all my recipes for breads, buns, rolls, etc. gathered and be ready to use them. Maybe even learn how to make homemade noodles all over again (I haven't made them for over 20 years, lol.). That's one item that I'm having a hard time finding right now...egg noodles, and other pastas.

Anyway, I've been feeling something in the air for a while now, and when that happens it usually means that something is about to happen that could affect a lot of us. You know, kind of like when the pandemic happened. Those of us who were already preppers were ready; and many who were not preppers learned of the need to be ready.

I don't buy into conspiracy theories, but anyone with common sense can take a look around and see that things are not going back to the way they were before the pandemic and that, in reality, things are only getting worse. Slowly. Day by day. So that some may be caught unaware. Don't be a part of that "some". Be aware. Look around. Be vigilant. Be ready.

As usual, I'm not just talking about being ready with having enough food, household essentials, skills, knowledge, etc. I'm also talking about being ready spiritually. Get closer to God. Trust in Him and let Him lead you and guide you. As the End Times draw nearer, we need to draw nearer to God. In the blink of an eye. That doesn't take very long or leave very much time. We need to be ready and right with God BEFORE it happens.

I'm not sharing this with you to invoke fear into anyone. I'm sharing it as a confirmation to some who have been "feeling" it also, and as a head's up to others. If the pandemic didn't invoke within you the knowledge that you need to be prepared for things that are headed our way, then there really is nothing more I can do to warn you or "scare" you into it.

It is my prayer that if God is using this blog to prompt you; that you will be open to His Holy Spirit and listen to what He is trying to tell you.

Oh, and I've started up a new twitter account for Christian Prepper Gal, as well as a new Facebook page. I actually started the Facebook page back in January and then got distracted, lol. But, I'm heading back on track now as we "speak". So please go check them out and "follow" and "like" them. Thanks!

Until next time...happy prepping, and God bless!

P.S. I'm thinking of showing my face on my next YouTube video. Let me know in the comment section below if you think it would or would not be good PR (public relations) for me to do so! Thanks!

This verse NEVER grows old. It is one that I have written in my heart and mind and remind myself of several times a day.

Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (KJV)
