It's time to wake up

And stay awake!

Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane

Is it time that we should wake up? I say YES! Take a moment and look at the world around you, look at the world at large. What do you see? What do you see when you really stop, take a moment, and look? Only you can answer that question for yourself.

What do I see? I see a world that's falling apart; crumbling, actually. A world without God. He's been taken out of the places where we need Him most. It didn't happen overnight, it's been happening for years. And, we, His people have been sleeping and let this happen! How could we? How could we sleep when He needed us to be awake? I say it's time that we WAKE UP! Just like the disciples kept falling asleep in the Garden of Gethsemane when Jesus needed them to stay awake to pray for Him and to keep watch for the enemy. We've been falling asleep in our own worlds when He needed us to stay awake and pray for Him and to keep watch. How sad is that? But yet what do we do? We do just exactly what His disciples did. We awake for a while and pray for a little bit, try and keep our eyes open, and then we fall asleep again. It's a pattern that has been going on and on and on. For thousands of years. It's time to break that pattern!

But, how do we get out of this pattern? How do we fight this sleep that seems to overtake us? When we can't seem to keep our eyes open? How do we do that? We open The Word of God! We keep our eyes focused on HIM.

We say, we even cry out, that we are living in The Last Days. Yet, what do we do about it? Hey, I'm just as guilty as the next person. I teach it, I preach it, and yet I tend to get caught up in the snares of the wicked and get busy with what we call "life". But, what is life if we are excluding Him in it? What good are we to Him if we can't keep awake?

God is calling us. He's trying to wake us up. Are we just going to keep sleeping and ignore His voice? We can't keep hitting that "snooze button" forever. We are not helping ourselves by snoozing we are only hurting ourselves. And our loved ones.

The ten virgins

Matthew 25: 1-13,

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

How can we watch if we can't stay awake? If we can't stay awake and watch, what will happen to us? Will the door truly be shut, and we won't make it in? Yes! And, it's not me, or you, who makes that decision. It's Jesus. However, it is you, and me, who make the decision as to whether or not we are going to be ready and not miss that door being open!

God's Power

The devil will use all the snares and traps he has available to stop us from being ready on time. He will get us so busy and wrapped up in our own little worlds that we fail to see what is happening around us. He will cause us to think that we have plenty of time to wake up and even tell us it's okay to hit that snooze button; over and over and over again. Don't let yourselves be fooled. He is a powerful force. But, our God is more powerful, for sure! Only, we have to be aware of the power of God in order for us to use it. And then, we have to depend on His Power, and not our own. Yes, we have power through the Blood of Jesus...and that is His Power that I am speaking of here.

Ephesians 6:10-18,

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; (KJV)

For a number of years now I have been walking around in a half awake state of mind. Yes, I am human just like you. We all have faults. But, it is time to become fully awake. How are we truly going to help save others if we cannot save ourselves? If our lamps are empty, we cannot rely on others having their lamps full to get us to the Bridegroom. In other words, people or a person, cannot save us. We can not rely upon another person's faith to get us through. We have to wake up, have, and use, our own faith! The pastor's faith won't save you, grandma's faith won't save you, your spouse's faith won't save you, you're friend's faith won't save you. Do you understand?

We need to wake up, truly become aware of what is going on around us, build up our own faith, and BE READY!

Until next time...happy prepping, and God bless!

Jude 20-21,

But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
